During the course, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills for providing physical, social, and emotional support to the elderly. Additionally, you will develop the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, including with other professionals like nurses and healthcare workers.

The course prioritises COVID-safe infection control training, ensuring your understanding of necessary precautions. Access to all learning and support materials will be provided through our user-friendly online learning management system. To further enhance your practical skills, you will have the opportunity to complete a four-week work placement with one of our esteemed industry partners.
With an ageing population, there is high demand for qualified aged care workers. You’ll gain knowledge and experience in providing support to older people with complex needs, and working with groups of older people. This course includes training in:

  • palliative and dementia care
  • falls prevention and interventions for clients at risk
  • service planning and delivery
  • elderly care health and hygiene.

Participating in a 20 day work placement will give you practical industry experience as well as on-the-job confidence and first aid & Manual handling are also  included in the course . You’ll also further develop your communication skills and your ability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships.

The Certificate IV in Individual Support (Ageing) equips you for a job in aged care. Combining theory and practice, this aged care course will teach you how to provide physical, social and emotional support to older people. You will also learn how to work as part of a team with other professionals such as nurses and healthcare workers.

Course Structure

To be awarded CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, a student must successfully complete a total of eighteen (18) units of competency, comprising of

  • Fifteen (15) core units, and;
  • three (3) elective units, consisting of:
  • at least two (2) units from the electives listed in the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification, and;
  • up to one (1) unit from the electives listed in the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification or any endorsed training package or accredited course – these units must be relevant to the work outcome.
